How to Choose Decoration for Aluminum Nameplates?

A typical question from clients often centers on how do they choose from the many decoration options to find one that is perfect for their nameplate? One of the most common ways is to review existing nameplate samples and pick out the decoration elements that are of most interest.

When you take the time to look at how other companies are decorating their nameplates and labels you find inspiration to help with your own brand strategy. The use of a pattern in the background or mechanical finish on aluminum can be the differentiating factor between an every day, run-of-the-mill nameplate and the eye-catching, exceptional branding that will draw consumers to your product.

Below is an example of how the decoration processes used by one company in their branding can inspire another company on ways to enhance and decorate their own brand identification. The VacuMaid emblem on the left takes cue from the Blendtec badge use of black and gun metal gray decoration with spun aluminum behind the graphics. Both parts have an overall low gloss protective top coat.

There are differences between the parts as well. The Blendtec part has more complex tooling with embossed and debossed graphics as well as a slight form so that it will fit to the contour of the product that it is applied to. The VacuMaid part is flat with no embossing. Both parts are attractive and eye-catching.

It is common for companies within the same industry to pay attention to how their competitors are branding the products. It can also be helpful to look at other industries and products. What looks good for an exterior automotive badge might also work well to grab attention for a nameplate on a consumer electronics product. You can take that inspiration and use it to design a remarkable and extra-ordinary nameplate to showcase and elevate your brand.
