Round emblems can be found on a variety of products from cosmetic cases to electronics and medical devices. Many times we are asked for assistance on locating features when designing round nameplates.

Aluminum nameplates and badges can incorporate a tab or a notch which will help with quick assembly to your end product. Here is a quick video wtih further explanation and examples.

Tabbed Aluminum Nameplates

A tab is created during tooling operation for aluminum nameplates so that there is a small protrusion extending out from the edge of the emblem. It can be done on either flat nameplates or on badges with a wiped down edge or skirt. The product housing needs to account for the location and dimension of the tabs.

Notched Aluminum Nameplates

A notch is also created during tooling operation for aluminum nameplates. The notch, also referred to as a mousehole, is cut into the edge so that there is a change in the peripheral surface. This can be done on either flat nameplates or in the wiped over edge of a badge. The product housing mating surface should take into consideration the location and dimension of the notches.
