Medical device labels and nameplates need to reflect the precision and quality of the product. The Welch Allyn diamond cut nameplate is an example of this look. It is unique in that the diamond cut logo is on a compound curved surface. The diamond cut process is typically used on flat surfaces. Additional graphics and features may be embossed but the background area of the diamond cut graphic is flat. In this application the nameplate needed to be curved to mate up to the opthalmoscope. Our engineers developed the process to form the nameplate after the diamond cut operation. Careful consideration needed to be taken for the the diamond cut area since this process removes a thin layer of aluminum from the embossed graphics slightly weakening the metal.
