Master Scheduler Overall Purpose of Position

Reporting to the Production Control & Logistics Manager, the Master Scheduler is responsible for managing all aspects of the production scheduling process, maintaining control and accuracy over all transactions pertaining to production control and material planning.

Master Scheduler Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Establishes and implements methods and best practices related to the systems and processes that support the production scheduling process.
  • Develops and implements standard work which supports the production control department and processes.
  • Translates projected forecasts, incoming volume, and work scopes in to a production plan with a time-phased build schedule. 
  • Work with customer base to determine weekly inbound forecast and develop consumption models to improve accuracy. 
  • Schedule demand based on the product mix and provide accurate commitment dates across multiple product lines.
  • Assemble master schedule reporting regarding performance to the business plan, shipment plan, inventory plan, and production plan. 
  • Provide input to finance on operating plans for the sales and operations planning process.
  • Establishes and supervises production scheduling by monitoring customer orders (EDI), inventories, tracking progress of production, and reviewing factors that affect scheduling.
  • Rectify and/or reconcile differences and inaccuracies pertaining to shipment and deliveries to customers.
  • Calculate accurate production lead times, understand capacity management relationship to MRP.

Master Scheduler Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain Management or other related business management or operations field
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in production scheduling, material planning or other related role within a high volume automotive manufacturing environment
  • Excellent planning and time management skills
  • Strong computer skills, experience with Microsoft Office products and working knowledge with EDI and ERP software (SAP, QAD, or Axapta preferred)
  • Working knowledge of MRP
  • Personal integrity and the ability to foster teamwork, cooperation and consensus building
  • Detail oriented and precise with excellent organization skills
  • Ability to contribute in a cross-functional collaborative environment
  • APICS certification a plus (CPIM or CSCP)
