Human Resources Assistant Overall Purpose of Position
The Human Resources Assistant provides administrative day-to-day support to the Human Resources Department on all hourly personnel matters.
Human Resources Assistant Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for employee relation, communications and hourly recruitment
- Responds to reference checks and requests for verification of employment
- Ensures adherence to company HR policies and procedures, assisting employees and supervisors with basic interpretation
- Performs HRIS data entry and personnel file maintenance
- Completes weekly and monthly HR reports, tracking HR metrics
- Maintains compliance with state and federal employment laws
- Investigates employee relations issues and partners with HR manager and operations staff to resolve
- Ensures the availability of an adequate, well-trained workforce to support the operational goals of the company
- Arranges interview schedules, performs phone screens and ensures compliance to all company policies and procedures related to hiring
- Oversees and/or conducts new employee orientation and training
- Performs administrative tasks related to employee benefits
- Ensures employee files are maintained in accordance with company policy and legal guidelines
- Supports the facility safety programs
- Administration and tracking of employee attendance including but limited to FMLA, Disability and Workers Compensation Leaves
- Maintains high standards of confidentiality of all employees records and information
- Other job duties as assigned
Human Resources Assistant Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum 1-3 years of human resources experience
- Minimum of Associates Degree in Human Resources or related field strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of state of federal employment laws
- Effective written and oral communication skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution
- Time management and organizational skills required, including the ability to manage competing priorities
- Strong attention to detail
- Strict adherence to confidentiality requirements
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products with strong emphasis in Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access
- Proficient working with HRIS software
- Bilingual in Spanish a bonus, but not required
