Quality Manager Overall Purpose of Position

Reporting to the Plant Manager and Director of Quality, the Quality Manager is responsible for ensuring sustainable excellence in quality during product development and during the production cycle. This is accomplished by providing technical leadership within the quality discipline, driving adherence to systems, and maintaining the highest level of customer focus. The Quality Manager will work closely with team members to provide effective solutions in support of company policies, business goals and quality objectives. 

Quality Manager Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensures QMS requirements are established, implemented and maintained in accordance with IATF/TS16949 and ISO
  • Keeps Management Team informed of significant issues or development identified during quality assurance and quality control activities as well as corrective actions being taken
  • Prepares and presents technical and program information to the Management Team
  • Formulates and maintains quality objectives complimentary to company policies and business goals
  • Performs quality reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements including supplier quality manuals and company quality records
  • Applies SPC methods for analyzing data to evaluate current processes and changes 
  • Reviews all data obtained during quality activities to ensure consistency with policies, procedures, and customer requirements
  • Investigates and addresses quality concerns
  • Manages the activities of the plant quality team
  • Provides guidance to manufacturing departments regarding product conformance
  • Works closely with Program Management and Engineering teams during the introduction of new products, ensures customer specifications are adhered to, and samples are accurate prior to submission
  • Leads internal and external quality certification audits
  • Maintains a working knowledge of government and industry quality codes and standards
  • Designs and delivers training programs related to quality to key personnel in partnership with departmental managers and supervisors
  • Identifies and recommends opportunities for improvement in efficiency, productivity, processes and procedures
  • Manages quality reporting, monitoring, and resources
  • Ensures all safety related requirements are met and adhered to
  • Other duties and projects as assigned

Quality Manager Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Quality, Engineering, or relevant field of study
  • Minimum of five (5) years of quality engineering experience with at least three (3) years in managerial or supervisory role
  • Working knowledge and understanding of the automotive industry, experience with automotive decorative commodities is highly preferred
  • Proven ability to apply continuous improvement and plant floor problem-solving techniques
  • Personal integrity with the ability to foster consensus in a team oriented environment
  • High level of initiative, motivated and goal-oriented
  • Advanced supervisory and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization as well as customers
  • Sound technical knowledge, ability to read blueprints and interpret diagrams and other technical documentation
  • Ability to prioritize work assignments and meet project deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to think on a strategic level
  • Proficient with spreadsheets and statistical analysis software packages
