Human Resource Generalist Overall Purpose of Position

The Human Resources Generalist provides administrative day-to-day support to the Plant Manager and Corporate Human Resources Administrator on all hourly personnel matters. The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for processing and maintaining records/payroll for hourly employees.

Human Resource Generalist Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensures health, safety and environmental practices are adhered to
  • Provides guidance, counsel and assistance to managers on grievance, attendance, disciplinary, and performance issues to ensure compliance with Company practices, policies, and labor agreement.
  • Administers effectively hourly employee benefit plans and programs as well as safety and health programs in an efficient and effective manner
  • Participates in the recruitment and selection of personnel for hourly and conducts interviews of applicants for such positions
  • Monitors and reviews hourly personnel records such as absences, discipline, etc. due to process payroll
  • Prepares various reports for Plant Managers and Upper Management
  • Performs orientation for newly hired hourly personnel
  • Responds to emergencies related to safety
  • Monitors and maintains compliance with applicable Federal and State regulatory rules pertaining to employment, opportunity, conditions and hours of work, rates of pay etc. (OSHA-EEOC-ADA-Fair Employment-Wage and Hour)
  • Assists in the implementation and accomplishment of organizational change
  • Performs the day-to-day functions of the factory Personnel Office including processing of weekly payroll
  • Compiles and maintains hourly personnel records. Records data for each employee, such as address, hourly rate, absences, discipline, etc.
  • Maintains HR systems records/files and compiles any reports from employment records
  • Identifies applicants for hire at the factory level, schedules drug screenings, extends offers of employment and conducts new hire orientations
  • Assists Corporate Human Resources Department in carrying out various human resources programs, projects and procedures for hourly employees
  • Participates in investigations into complaints/concerns at hourly level
  • Provides non-harassment training to applicable employees
  • Performs customer service functions by answering applicant/employee requests and questions

Human Resource Generalist Skills and Qualifications

  • Knowledge of principles and practices of human resources 
  • Effective oral and written communications skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Computer literacy-knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Maintain confidentiality
