Regional Director of Supply Chain Management Overall Purpose of Position

Establish, lead, and execute Supply Chain and Purchasing strategy for the North American operations. Develop and implement strategic objectives to ensure the organization is a Best in Class manufacturer. Lead continuous improvement efforts and meet growth targets through support of purchasing, inventory management, quality assurance, costing, and logistics strategic initiatives.

Regional Director of Supply Chain Management Job description

  • Lead the North American supply chain teams (i.e. purchasing, material planning, production control and logistics), setting strategic goals and leading continuous improvement initiatives
  • Provide leadership and strategic direction for all supply chain functions while ensuring proper interface with manufacturing, program management, engineering, quality and sales
  • Build strong relationships with customers, both internal and external
  • Analyze and make recommendations for legal documents (i.e. supplier contracts and import/export agreements)
  • Ensure negotiation of optimal payment terms and conditions
  • Formulate and maintain North American supply chain objectives complementary to corporate policies and goals
  • Build a strong, high performing supply chain organization with a clear vision and mission to support company growth
  • Execute and manage procurement/purchasing plan and maintain inventory levels for all purchase parts and finished goods to meet customer and internal requirements
  • Ensure inventory turns are optimized while retaining inventory necessary to meet customer demands
  • Reduce cost and lead times, identify and act on slow moving and obsolete inventory
  • Keep detailed records, generate reports, and develop presentation to help leadership team understand inventory levels by customer
  • Monitor customer scorecards to ensure metrics exceed expectations, critical for new business sourcing
  • Maintain a high level of customer service and organizational support
  • Work closely with all organizational cross-functional teams
  • Other projects and duties as assigned

Regional Director of Supply Chain Management Skills and Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with team members, peers, vendors and customers
  • Ability to effectively manage change
  • Critical thinking and reasoning skills, ability to identify weaknesses and strengths of alternative solutions or approaches to opportunities
  • Experience supporting customers in various industries, experience in an automotive OEM supply environment required
  • Excellent understanding and in depth knowledge of the entire supply chain management process including purchasing, logistics, inventory management, ERP, etc. in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong computer skills, exceptional experience with databases, ERP/MRP systems and experience with Microsoft Office products, ability to develop presentations
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently
  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years of supply chain experience which includes a minimum of five (5) years leading cross-functional teams
  • Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business or related field, Master's degree preferred
