Computer Technician Overall Purpose of Position

Reporting to the Director of IT, the Computer Technician will be the key contact for providing hardware and software related assistance to end users.

Computer Technician Job description

  • Build, configure, repair and install hardware devices
  • Address all computer related hardware issues including servers, terminals, tablets, desk phones, company cell phones, printers, scanners, copiers, etc.
  • Assist users with questions related to software programs and functionality
  • Create user profiles in active directory and email accounts
  • Manage backup of information
  • Assist with weekly company-wide rebooting activities
  • Manage technology inventory, including researching and sourcing the purchase of key replacement items
  • Run and crimp network lines and provide supports with the network and internet connectivity
  • Maintain response and repair times within the SLA
  • Troubleshoot and support printing issues
  • Analyze problems and solve hardware and software related issues, both directly and remotely as applicable
  • Other duties and projects as assigned

Computer Technician Skills and Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Information Technology or other related field, minimum of a two (2) year degree from technical college
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High level of initiative, with the ability to work well in a team environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills with customer service mindset
  • Ability to effectively prioritize work assignments, multitask, and meet project deadlines
  • Motivated, goal oriented, self-starter
  • Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy requirements and best practices
  • Ability to research, analyze, and develop recommendations/solutions based upon acquired knowledge and data
  • Ability to travel as required (anticipated to be <25% of time)
