Ice Crystal Finish

A soft crystalline structure in pale transparent white is layered on aluminum for this metal finish.  A low gloss topcoat completes the muted effect.  The delicate and varied patterns in frost where the inspiration for this finish.  The natural organic structure takes advantage of the reflective surface of the metal.

This variation layers selectively brushed fragments into the background of the structure adding movement to the surface.  A high gloss topcoat emphasizes the highlights in the metal.

A Modern Classic

white hex pattern

The intricate hexagon design on this aluminum finish makes it a stylish addition to decorative trim.  The all white finish creates a clean look appropriate for use on a variety of products.  It would be very attractive combined with either bright or brushed aluminum.

Using Various Gloss Levels to Define a Pattern

The hexagon design in this finish is created using multiple gloss levels.  High, medium and low gloss are combined to create the subtle effect.  Selective gloss levels are applied with the screen printing process.  Using gloss levels to define a pattern is an attractive option in finish design because it adds a pattern to the surface without changing the overall color of the finish.

Industrial looking powder coated finishes were the inspiration for these graphite surfaces on aluminum.  Focus is on the rugged and the strong.  Printing the finishes on aluminum allows for unexpected applications and combinations.  Play with the textured surface of the powder coat finish contrasting it with selective brushing or bright accents.  Integrate into decorative trim or as the background finish on a nameplate.

Technical Finishes on Aluminum Trim

Posted by Deidre Kruser on Wed, Sep 08, 2010

Geometric Finishes

This short video features some of our most popular technical finishes on aluminum.  This series incorporates small scale geometric structures into their design.  Brushing and printed texture add to the depth of the finishes.  The reflective metal surface adds natural highlights and shadows when applied to contours and forms.  The structures are available as an overall surface or to be applied selectively.  Bright or brushed aluminum accents combine with the patterns to further enhance the overall look.  Customization options include color, scale and process.

How would you use these types of finishes in the background of a nameplate or emblem?  What types of product applications come to mind for trim decorated with these finishes?  Tell us your thoughts in the comments below.
