Multiply Aluminum Surface Collection

Shape-shifting results in a flowing aluminum surface that evolves with the part, illustrating attention to detail in design. Individual elements in these patterns change as they move across the surface.

Aged Metal Patterns on Aluminum

Posted by Lynn Holzworth on Tue, Aug 16, 2011

I love the look of aged or antique metal. Here are two of my favorite patterns on aluminum from our patina collection.  Both patterns have a variety of subtle warm and cool tones.PatinaPatterns

Patinas Add Character to Decorative Metal Trim

They occur naturally on metals as they age and oxidize.  Artists and metalworkers often add patinas to metal surfaces to simulate wear and exposure to the elements.

Distressed and aged metal surfaces add hand crafted warmth to spaces.  Surfaces range from gunmetal greys and mixed metal designs to antiqued brass and copper finishes.

Dark Patinaed Patterns

The aged and patinaed surfaces are reproduced on aluminum using a combination of litho and screen printing.  The finish is protected by a clear topcoat which is roll coated on to the metal.  The overall gloss level changes the look and feel of the aluminum surface.  Patinas work well in both low and high gloss.

These are only a few of the patinas on metal in our library of metal finishes.  Check out the patina mood board and request your designer disc collection today.

Robert Rauschenberg's BMW Art Car

This BMW Art Car by Robert Rauschenberg made its first appearance in 1986.  Rauschenberg used photographic methods to transfer his images on enameled aluminum.  He was considered an innovative artist that transitioned from Abstract Expressionism to Pop Art, using non-traditional materials in developing his art, including sculptures.  Rauschenberg also worked as a photographer, printmaker and papermaker.

The BMW Art Cars are very interesting and also a perfect example of artistic patterns on aluminum surfaces.  The Art Car adds a creative element to the automotive world that can otherwise be overlooked, bringing the creative element into the forefront.

We have created an aluminum surface collection which was inspired by Pop Art and Robert Rauschenberg's BMW Art Car.

Stay tuned for more posts on the BMW Art Cars.  What other industries would benefit by putting creative in the forefront of their design?  The argument could be made that all industries should.  What are your thoughts on creativity and innovation; Do they go hand-in-hand?

New Aluminum Surface Collection Inspired by Abstract Expressionism

Posted by Lynn Holzworth on Tue, Aug 02, 2011

Abstract expressionism was the inspiration behind the most recent aluminum surface collection.  As an American post-World War II art movement, it acheived worldwide influence and put New York City at the center of the western art world.  The term abstract expressionism evolved in American art in 1946.

Jackson Pollock is one of the most prominent artists from this time.  Pollock's works were energetic and some would say "busy".  Abstract expressionism art implied the expression of ideas concerning the spiritual, the unconscious and the mind.

Abstract Surface Collection

The aluminum patterns in this series evoke similar energy as Pollock's works.  These patterns have an illusional element within them.  Intrigue is created simply by using variations of black ink, while taking advantage of multiple techniques that are available on aluminum substrates.

Our pattern library is a rich resource in the exploration of finishes.  Patterns add detail and depth to your aluminum nameplate and trim designs.

Request samples of the finishes to see how aluminum adds movement and depth to the finishes.  Begin exploring the possibilities.
