You've spoke and we've listened.  Our pattern library includes thousands of finishes on aluminum.  This group of finishes has one thing in common.  For one reason or another they caught your attention.  They were the most requested surfaces over the past year.  Designers of products as varied as automotive, appliance, computer, cell phone, camera and architectural surfaces explored these finishes.

Real Metal Textures in Aluminum Trim

The Nova Trim process combines standard decorative processes with coining and embossing to press texture into the surface of metal. Brushed and bright aluminum adds movement while texture creates natural highlights and shadows in the metal.

Simulated Nova Trim

Based on the popularity of Coined aluminum finishes we've created an alternative by developing an ink using our standard processes that simulates a coined texture. By doing this, a similar look to Nova Trim is achieved without the added cost of coining and embossing.

Attention to Detail

Consumers today have more cash, choice and education than ever before.  Along with this comes more sophisticated tastes and far more product knowledge.  People today want and expect more. They are often willing to pay premiums for goods delivering better quality along with emotional benefits.

Irrespective of income, consumers are shopping at both premium and value ends of the market, ready to pay more for a product they are passionate about by paying less for something else.

Decommodify

The meaning of luxury is changing.  People are willing to overspend on products with an emotional connection while shopping at discount stores.  Often value, mid and premium models are differentiated visually only by the color and finish.  What is the visual cue that a laptop, radar detector or stereo is a premium model?  Product features may be rich but also not instantly recognizable.  Aluminum trim offers a solution for differentiating across product levels.  A common tool offers consistency while addition of unique finishes is the differentiating factor.

This article is another in the series of posts featuring notes from the staff on their favorite finish. Today, I have the pleasure of presenting my favorite finish. Although there is a wide array to choose from, below is my current favorite.

My favorite finish is the NWG-694-R. I prefer this finish due to my love of cars. Motor vehicles have come a long way from using the wood grain on exterior panels to creating a sense of luxury by strategically placing wood grain on the interior. There are several automakers offering the wood grain as an option for upgrades. This detail gives the interior a warm color palette as well as a distinction from other models of the same vehicle. While there are several shades and styles, the darker shades are especially appealing to me.
